Personal Licence renewals 'still required'?!

15 May
2015

We will spare them their blushes by not naming them - but a council in the South East has been issuing letters still requiring personal licence renewals, whilst acknowledging that the Deregulation Act 2015, which abolished such renewals, is now in force.

The letters, sent during April, purported to require such renewal application to ‘enable a new personal licence to be issued without an expiry date'. Clearly this was in complete error, as they now freely acknowledge.

For the avoidance of any doubt, no personal licence in England and Wales expiring after 31 March 2015 needs renewal and any similar letters received can be safely ignored.

If you do receive such, we would however be interested to have the detail passed on.

Law correct at the date of publication.
